I began teaching fitness in 1996, long before boutique studios and online memberships were part of the landscape. In those early years, I taught aerobics and step classes and was the first in my city to offer Tae Bo — that still makes me smile. Even then, what mattered most to me wasn’t trends or performance, but helping people feel better in their bodies.
In 2001, I discovered Pilates at a time when almost no one locally knew what it was — I didn’t even know how to pronounce it at first! That discovery changed the direction of my life and career. I received my training through Stott Pilates (Merrithew), completed my Injuries and Special Populations training in 2002 and my Full Advanced Repertoire in 2003, and went on to open the first fully equipped Pilates studio in Essex County.
Over the years, alongside raising my children and building a parallel career as a firefighter (I achieved the rank of Captain!), Pilates remained a constant thread — the work I always came back to.
My Passion
Over time, I became increasingly aware that what I see in my studio is very different from what I often see online. I see real bodies. Real injuries. Real women looking to move better, feel stronger, and age well — not to perform or fit into an idealized version of fitness.
I believe deeply that Pilates is for every body. A client does not have to “fit” into Pilates. A well-trained instructor adapts the work to the person, offering thoughtful modifications, postural assessment, and intelligent progression for any age, shape, or experience level, whether online or in-person. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgement-free space where women feel safe, supported, and empowered in their movement — and where fitness becomes a path to confidence, balance, and connection, not pressure.
How I did it
I began teaching fitness, leading aerobics and step classes and discovering my love for helping people feel better in their bodies.
I found Pilates and completed my advanced training through Stott Pilates, including Injuries & Special Populations and the Full Advanced Repertoire.
I opened a small home studio, then the first fully equipped Pilates studio in Essex County, building a busy and meaningful practice.
I completed my full Club Pilates repertoire certification, reaffirming my commitment to lifelong learning and excellent teaching.
After retiring as a Captain with Windsor Fire, I returned fully to Pilates and began building my online community for thoughtful movement and healthy aging.
