This week in the studio we did something a little different. 💚
After some gentle, breath-led Pilates — the kind where we slow everything right down and remind our nervous systems that we’re safe (honestly, I needed that as much as anyone this week) — I sat down with Nêve Bessette, a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, for a conversation about menopause I haven’t stopped thinking about.
A few things that stuck with me:
🔥 TCM looks at menopause through the lens of “heat.” As the cooling, nourishing parts of us start to decline, we get the hot flashes, the dryness, the achy joints, the brain fog. Hearing it framed that way made so much suddenly make sense.
🔥 Estrogen isn’t just a hormone — it’s an anti-inflammatory and a joint lubricant. So when it drops, our joints genuinely start to feel like the Tin Man. (Why does no one warn us about this part?)
🔥 The supplement chat alone was worth showing up for. Turns out not all magnesium does the same job, gummies are mostly sugar, and that “trusted” bottle in your cupboard might be padded with cheap fillers. One of our members checked hers live and… let’s just say she had some words.
This is exactly what I want our studio to be — stronger bodies, curious minds, and real conversations about what’s actually happening to us, with zero judgment and a coffee chat to follow.
Members, your full replay is waiting for you inside. And if you’re not a member yet — come move with me. You’re so welcome here.
With love,
Beth 💚
